Youth Options Program

Youth Options is located at 294 Main Street, Fredericton. This program is available to youth between the ages of 15 and 30, currently not working or in school. The program features in house training in personal development, life, and employment skills.

Following a period of training, participants are placed in supervised work settings to practice learned skills. Another feature of this program is the “store front” resources room. The resource room is open to the public and provides a safe atmosphere where youth may access information, speak with a staff person or conduct an interview with a community resource agency representative. Youth options, providing alternatives for youth.

Participant Eligibility:

Youth between the age of 15 to 30 (inclusive) at the time of intake selection
Out of school
Legally entitled to work in Canada
Legally entitled to work according to relevant provincial legislation
Not receiving Employment Insurance benefits
Unemployed or underemployed

Program Objectives:

To provide training with youth at risk
To offer short and long-term support to youth at risk (and their families)
To support local agencies (police, schools, community groups) in locating, planning and scheduling interventions for youth at risk
To be an active partner in creating a safer community

Program Goals:

To deliver group-based employability skills and life skills training for youth
To provide participants the opportunity to practice learned skills and supervised work settings and the opportunity for client centred goal planning based on the individual need
Workshops include: Choice Theory introduction, assessing individual strengths and weaknesses, employer expectations, stress management, communication skills, problem solving and much more…
Participants are supported and supervised throughout the entire program
To create a referral service with Fredericton City Police, local schools, community agencies, Education and Early Childhood Development, Post-Secondary Education Training and Labour, Social Developemnt, and Justice & Public Safety
